Jury finds former student guilty in pledge's death

BATON ROUGE, La. - A Louisiana jury on Wednesday convicted a former Louisiana State University student of negligent homicide in a fraternity pledge's drinking death during a hazing nearly two years ago.

The six jurors took less than an hour to convict Matthew Naquin, 21, of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas, in the death of Max Gruver, 18, of Roswell, Georgia, The Advocate reported.

Mail carrier convicted in scheme to deliver pot packages

NEWARK, N.J. - A postal service worker has been convicted of intercepting packages of marijuana and delivering them to a drug dealer in return for cash payments.

Federal prosecutors say Fred Rivers was convicted Tuesday on a conspiracy count but acquitted of taking bribes. The 47-year-old Newark man faces up to five years in prison when he's sentenced Oct. 29.

California pot seller asks court to void county delivery ban

LOS ANGELES - Another legal fight is underway over home marijuana delivery in California.

A licensed cannabis company has sued Santa Cruz County, claiming that it's violating state law by prohibiting deliveries from out-of-county retailers into a swath of unincorporated areas.
