GMP Capital to sell capital markets business

TORONTO - Shares of GMP Capital Inc. soared after the Toronto-based financial services firm agreed to sell the bulk of its capital markets business to Stifel Financial Corp. in a deal worth roughly $70 million.

GMP's shares on the Toronto Stock Exchange surged after the announcement on Monday, closing at $2.29, up more than 13 per cent.

Herring said Saturday that Virginia should start decriminalizing possession of small amounts of marijuana and eventually legalize the drug.

ASUNCION, Paraguay - A nongovernmental organization in Paraguay is distributing free marijuana seeds so that mothers of chronically ill patients can produce CBD oil at home.

The distribution effort by Mama Cultiva at a public square in Asuncion on Saturday was also intended to pressure the government of President Mario Abdo Benítez to authorize home cultivation of the plant.
